Active Shooter Preparedness
Active shooter incidents are back on the rise and they seem to have become a daily occurrence across the country, with another casino facing the reality of a worst-case scenario.
We have extensive experience in developing and implementing active shooter training programs at casino resorts, and we want to help you to prepare your teams, including communication plans.
We conduct up to 4 training sessions per property, and each session takes 1-3 hours, depending on the type of training options you'd like to include (seminar versus Run/Hide/Fight scenarios and debrief).
Our Experience:
- Created/implemented Active Shooter Training programs with the FBI, Navy SEALs from SEAL Team SIX, in coordination with local, county and state law enforcement agencies.
- Conducted table-top exercises to assess Active Shooter Response with the local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies, with casino security.
- Conducted LIVE (blank) gunfire scenarios to train staff in the identification of live gunfire in enclosed spaces.
- Trained casino staff on the the Run/Fight/Hide responses to active shooter threats in back of house office areas, as well as entertainment venues and make-shift gaming spaces.
- Trained staffs on Stop the Bleed in a mass-casualty incident.
- Our President/Founder provides a first-hand account of what he observed in an active shooter incident in a casino during the Las Vegas mass-shooting on October 1, 2017, as well as what to expect in the coming hours and days.
- We developed a PR campaign to advise the region of our active shooter preparedness, which also resulted in a regional EMMY for our media partner (NBC-Seattle).
Preparations:
- We will review and assess your current Active Shooter Training programs and offer suggestions.
- Conference call with your executive team and security decision-makers on the scope of the training to be provided.
- You will receive an updated training plan from us, outlining each aspect of the training program.
- We recommend discussing this plan with your law enforcement liaisons in advance of the training, so that they can participate in, or observe, the training. And, we want to make sure they know that a training session is taken place, in case they are notified of a possible active shooter incident.
- Training will occur over a 2-day period, unless otherwise specified in the training program.
- We arrive the day before the training occurs to walk through the training spaces with you to confirm that we are aligned on expectations and safety protocols.
- We recommend that you have trauma/grief counselors on hand during and after the training to ensure that staff have resources available for any adverse reactions to the voluntary training.
Cost:
- $5,000 for a 2-day training event (up to 4 sessions, unlimited attendees), plus travel and accommodations for 2-5 trainers.
- Law enforcement partners may need to request compensation for their participation/observation of the training session, typically around $35-$70 per officer/per hour.
